Mike.A -what's new-
See What's Up with Mike.A
With about one month left before I end CÉGEP, I've started to question myself on what was coming and brought me to ask myself how I could prepare myself for the unknown. Not intending on going to university brought me to question myself on what i would be doing after to get my life started.
After these questions I started making lists, loads of lists, planning everything. One thing was still missing. how would I find myself having a job that will bring enough money to be autonomous and still be free to make music and to build my career. After a long conversation with my sister over an amazing pizza, I really started to think about that and thought about working in a small café. working mostly mornings I believe I will have the possibility to still practice my passion without being exhausted.
With all my planning, you will also be able to see a new page coming up on my website called the Release Radar. It will keep you posted on all the tracks coming up and their release dates. My Vlog on producer's block will also be up over the weekend. and full of new projects are on the horizon!
Hope to see you soon
OMG! Midterms are a real pain. time to study, no time for social life, no time to unwind. how to deal with it? Why not try to meditate a little. take 5-10 minutes every morning just to relax let go of the stress and prepare yourself for your day. another way I enjoy unwinding is by simply listing all I have to do. I know this might sound like something that could discourage you, but if done well, it can be of great help. Just sit down with your agenda and a piece of paper (or phone come on Mike it's 2019) and write down everything you have to do. Besides that, write how long everything will take. start with the longest and alternate from longest to shortest so you don't feel like everything big is happening at the same time. this will actually motivate you.
Now for all you artists, DON'T take midterms as a moment to stop doing your art. Make time in your schedule to make music, paint, etc. Doing art will help clear your mind! I promise it will help be more efficient. make time in your studying schedule to take breaks, go run, listen to music, workout, or make art. When finished with your break your mind will be ready to start working and maybe a little push will be needed, but tell yourself if you finish fast you'll be done with the stress and can make more art sooner!
I've had to deal with this recently and had to postpone the post of my new vlog. I've been so caught up in midterm assignments that I somewhat forgot to take care of what I love in my life. happily, the shooting is almost over and I'll be able to release my new vlog this weekend! this vlog will talk about 5 tricks I found that help me deal with Producer's block.
Hope you'll enjoy and keep these tricks up for FINALS!
Hope to see you soon
After this realization I had this past month, I decided to make a Facebook and Instagram Live and show the making of a track. I will start from scratch with only a set of chords I've prepared for you guys. I'll be able to answer all your questions and interact with you! Soon, Polls will be coming up on Facebook and Instagram to guide me through the process of making the track! with loads of work and projects coming, I hope to be able to see you and talk to you there.
Super excited to talk to you guys!
Yesterday I came to a realization. I think I was starting to make music in the genre I made it because people were starting to expect me to deliver that. I felt restricted and the inspiration wasn't there anymore. I realized I was starting to make extremely similar things that barely differed from track to track. Creating my own sounds really helped to develop this creativity not to have sounds that become repetitive. By creating my own sounds I also realized what my sound was and I no longer have to depend on other people's sounds. This realization really brought me back to the core of why I make music... for passion and love to communicate this passion to the world. I've realized that I have to make what I want to make and not what people want me to make. In the next months, you'll be able to hear these changes with upcoming singles. I feel great to have this first realization now and not to a point where I can't create for a long period of time and don't feel in a good relationship with music. If you find yourself stuck in a moment or in an idea and you can't seem to move forward or you feel like you're just repeating stuff and ideas, question yourself if you're really doing this for yourself and not for someone else. you might come to the realization that you aren't authentic with your creative choices and are stuck in this loop.
